This time of year many are thinking about how to give or take time to volunteer and do so for many reasons. Some may wish to give back to their community or make a difference in a meaningful way. Others enjoy the opportunity to develop new skills or gain experience and knowledge. Giving can truly make one happier and have a positive impact on one’s health and well-being. Here are a few ideas of how you can have an impact:
ReSOURCE
Tax deductible monetary donations help the organization to divert reusable goods from landfills and offer job skills training.
Donating goods supports job and life skills training to Vermonters and keeps items out of the landfills. You can donate gently used household goods, appliances, and computers. The sales of such goods goes towards training and voucher programs for those in need.
Volunteer your time with a wide variety of opportunities for both individuals and groups such as organizing different departments within the store locations.

Alzheimer’s Association (Vermont Chapter)
Corporations or individuals can donate money, stock or securities, and vehicles to help further their goal of a world without Alzheimer’s. The donations help to fund Alzheimer’s care, face-to-face support, online educational programs, and promising worldwide research initiatives.
Williston Community Food Shelf
Food shelf’s are perhaps most known by their accepting of non-perishable food donations. They must be in intact, unopened and undamaged containers. Personal hygiene products such as toilet tissue are also needed. Fresh fruits and vegetables are also welcome but arrangements to donate them need to be made in advance. Monetary donations in different forms are also accepted. Those wishing to volunteer can check in and stock food donations and help shoppers in the store and out to their vehicles.
